Doab means "tongue" which is actually used in the Indian subcontinent. It means the tract of land which lie between two convergent rivers.

The Five famous doabs are as follows:

1.Singh Sagar Doab

2.Jech Doab

3.Rechna Doab

4.Bist Doab

5.Bari Doab

All these doabs were build during the time of Mughal Empire when Ali Gohar (1728-1806) also known as Shah Alam II was the king of Mughal.
