Let the length of  each square be x.

The length of the rectangle formed is 5x

And its width is x.

Perimeter = 2(x + 5x)

Perimeter = 2x + 10x = 12x

12x = 276

x = 276/12

x = 23 cm

The squares are each of side 23 cm

The area of each square is :

23 × 23 = 529

= 529 cm²
