Excretion is the process of removing contents from a cell; digestion is just the opposite where materials are broken down to be absorbed. Small intestines are responsible for absorbing food materials broken down throughout the digestive system.
Salivary glands function to breakdown starch while the material is still in the mouth.
Keep in mind - DIGESTION is the process of breaking down larger, complex materials into simpler ones that the body can utilize.
EXCRETION is the process of removing waste materials that have been utilized and is now in a state that's harmful to the body.
