Five polyester balls labelled P, Q, R, S and T
are suspended from insulating threads.
Several experiments are performed on the
balls and the following observations are made.
I. Ball Prepels R and attracts Q
II. Ball S attracts Q and has no effect on T
III. A negatively charged rod attracts both P
and T
Which one of the following options correctly
describes the natur of charges on the
respective balls (O refers to uncharged)?

Answer:

first check attachment completly .

Explanation:

i wrote 2 cases for all charges on balls.

Given that

  1. p repels Q and R so,charges of p,Q,R must be same.
  2. s attracts Q mean that tgey both have opposite charges. And T has no charge.
  3. A negitively charged rod attracts P ball means p charge must be positive.

Based on the 3 obesrvation we can conclude that charges of

P-only positive

Q-positive or negivite

R-positive or negivite

s-only negivite(as it attracts P)

T-no charge

good question but you havent mentioned options
