Let the cost of 1 puff be x and that of 1 samosa be 1/2x.

5x + 2(1/2x) = 48

5x + x = 48

6x = 48

x = 48/6

x = 8 rs

∴ 1 puff costs 8 rupees.

Hope it helps!! If it does, please mark as brainliest.

tandelharminpdymdg: no its wrong
NavyaL: how
NavyaL: ??
tandelharminpdymdg: because if you are telling 1 puff ₹8 then five puff would be ₹40 and samosa is double price of it of accordind to your calculation1 samosa ₹16 and there are two so total would be ₹32 so total would be ₹72 but according to question total should be ₹48 thats why it is wrong
NavyaL: No price of samosa is half of cost of puff... So cost of 2 samosas = cost of 1 puff = 8
NavyaL: So 40 + 8 = 48
NavyaL: Did you understand what I explained?
tandelharminpdymdg: ok im sorry ithought of samosa
NavyaL: Its ok

Solution:

The cost of a puff is ₹8

Explanation:

let the cost of puff is x and cost of samosa is y.

Then from the given directions, we have

5x+2y = 48 ..........(1)\\x=2y.......................(2)

On plugging the value x from equation 2 in equation 1

5(2y)+2y=48\\10y+2y=48\\12y=48\\y=4

Now, substituting the value of y in equation 2 to find the value of x

x=2\times 4\\x=8

Therefore, the value of x is 8 and the value of y is 4.

Hence, the cost of a puff is ₹8
