5 years ago means - 5
let take the age of son as x
so five years ago = x-5
and age of 'I' as 3x-5
10 years later
son age = x-5+10= x+5
'I' age = 2(3x-5)
equation
x+5=2(3x-5)
let take the age of son as x
so five years ago = x-5
and age of 'I' as 3x-5
10 years later
son age = x-5+10= x+5
'I' age = 2(3x-5)
equation
x+5=2(3x-5)

Five years ago
Let son's age be x
My age is 3x
Ten years later
Son's age is x+10
My age is 2(3x)
So,
x+10 = 2(3x)
x+10 = 6x
10 = 6x-x
10 = 5x
x = 10/5
x = 2
Hence,
Son's age = 2 years
My age = 6 years
Let son's age be x
My age is 3x
Ten years later
Son's age is x+10
My age is 2(3x)
So,
x+10 = 2(3x)
x+10 = 6x
10 = 6x-x
10 = 5x
x = 10/5
x = 2
Hence,
Son's age = 2 years
My age = 6 years
