Given:-

• Five years ago parties mother was three times as old as Bharti
• after 6 years a will be twice as old as Bharti present age.

Find :-

• Present age of Bharti

Explanation

Let,

• Present age of Bharti's mother = x years
• Present age of Bharti = y years

Case 1.

==> (x - 5) = 3×(y - 5)

==> x - 3y = -15 + 5

==> x - 3y = -10_____________(1)

Case 2.

==> (x + 6) = 2×(y + 6)

==> x - 2y = 12 - 6

==> x - 2y = 6___________(2)

Solving by elimination Method.

Subtract equ(1) & equ(2)

==> -3y + 2y = -10 - 6

==> -y = -16

==> y = 16

Keep in equ(1)

==> x - 3×16 = -10

==> x = -10 + 48

==> x = 38

Hence

• Present age of Bharti's mother = 38 years
