Five years from now. The age of Ravi will be three time.the age of ram.Five years ago,ravi's age was seven times that of ram what is the present age of Ravi?

and that of ram =y

x+5=3(y+5)
and
x-5 = 7(y-5)
now solve these 2 equations by substituting the value of x and y.

Let present age of Ravi and Ram be X and Y years respectively.




After 5 year's age of ravi = ( x + 5 ) years.


After 5 year's age of ram = ( y + 5 ) years.

x + 5 = 3 ( y + 5 )


x + 5 = 3y + 15


x - 3y = 10 ------(1)


And,


x - 5 = 7 ( y - 5 )


x - 5 = 7y - 35


x - 7y = -30 ------(2)


From equation (1) , we get


x - 3y = 10

x = ( 10 + 3y) -------(3)

Putting the value of x in equation (2) , we get



x - 7y = -30



10 + 3y - 7y = -30


-4y = -40

y = 10


Putting the value of y in equation (3) ,we get


x = 10 + 3y = 10 + 3 × 10



x = 40 year's.


Hence,

Present age of ravi = x = 40 year's.


And,

Present age of ram = y = 10 year's.
