from first condition,
x+5=3(y+5)
x+5=3y+15
x-3y=15-5
x-3y=10............. (1)
From second condition,
x-5=7(y-5)
x-5=7y-35
7y-x=30........(2)
adding one and two we get,
y=10 and x=40
therefore, John present age is 40 years and his daughter is 10 years
