The fleshy part of the seed that contains food for the baby plant is known as the endosperm.

In most of the flowering plants after fertilization a tissue is produced inside the seeds which is known as the endosperm. It is fleshy and oily. It surrounds the embryo. It functions as the sole food storage organ. It mainly contains starches.
