Answer:
The flow chart for metals and non-metals.
Explanation:
- A metal is the class of substance that has characteristics of having high electrical and thermal conductivity and are malleability in nature, having ductility and have high reflection of the light as the property.
- Nature of metal:
They are lustrous elements and opaque in nature and are good conductors of electricity and heat.
- Uses of the metal:
- To make wares for cooling.
- Used in electrical appliance, fridge.
- Using in manufacturing of jewellery from gold, coins and copper.
- A non metal are known as the elements that forms a negative ions that accepts or gains the electrons.
- It is usually 4,5, 6 or 7 electrons in shell that is placed out.
- They are good conductor of insulators of heat and electricity.
- Properties of non-metals:
1) They have atoms of non-metals which tends to be smaller than metals.
2) They are electro negative and are higher. The atoms are non-metal and have a tendency to attract more electrons.
List of non-metals:
- Solids:
Iodine, carbon, Sulphur, Phosphorous and silicon.
- Liquid:
Bromine
- Gas:
Hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, fluorine and chlorine.
Uses of non-metals:
1) nitrogen is used for preparation of nitric acid, ammonia and fertilizers.
2) It is used for the purpose of the purifying the water by using chlorine.
