Purification of water involves:-
Sedimentation to settle down the dirt particles, then the water is filtered such that the remaining particles are filtered out. Filtration is done through layers of gravel, sand and perhaps charcoal, the gravel layer is often about 1 foot deep and the sand layer about 221 feet deep. Then loading to a container is done after which chlorination is done to kill any remaining microorganisms or bacteria in the water and help to keep the water clean until distribution.
