Answers
The food in digestive system moves by rythmic contraction and relaxation of the muscles of the digestive organ or food pipe which is known as peristalsis
the process of
digestion is accomplished by mechanical and chemical processes
the buccal cavity performs two major functions ,mastication ,facilitation of swallowing .the teeth and the tongue with the help of saliva masticate and mix up the food thoroughly .mucus in saliva helps in lubricating and adhering the masticated food into a bolus.tge bolus is then conveyed into pharynx and then to the oesophagus...the bolus further passes down through the oesophagus by muscular contraction called peristalsis.. the castro oesophageal sphincter controls the passage if food into the stomach which has gastric glands and stores food for 4to 5 hrs the food mixes thoroughly with acidic gastric juices ...it is called chyme... most if digestion occurs in small intestine ...and then reaches to large intestine here absorption takes place through finger like projections called villi.... it absorbs important raw materials from the indigested food.... and then it sends faecal matter out through anus
