Double displacement reaction :- The reaction in which the two compounds exchange their ions and one of the product formed is insoluble in water is known as double - displacement reaction .
The insoluble substance formed as a result of precipitation reaction is known as precipitate.
It is denoted by downward arrow.↓
It's general formula is :-
AB + CD → AD + BC
