Food items can be preserved for longer time when kept in a

refrigerator. What is the chemical reason behind this fact? urgent !!...

The cold air inside refrigerator does not allow for bacteria to spread When kept in refrigerator, bacteria are cold, their chemical processes slow down, so they aren't able to reproduce and eat like they do at room temperature, so the food lasts longer...

As microorganisms require some specific condition of temperature and humidity to survive and cannot survive at extremely high or low temperature, food can be kept in the fridge for long time without getting spoilt.
