(a) There are medicines which are affected by light. The compound in the medicine undergo chemical reaction and get converted to other compounds in the presence of light. As a result, the medicines are no longer effective. So in order to prevent such kind of reactions, they are stored in dark bottles so that light can't enter the bottle.

(b) Similarly, some medicines are sensitive to heat. When the temperature is increased they undergo chemical reaction and lose their properties. So to prevent that, some medicines need refrigeration.

(c) I am not sure which value, but i think he fulfilled the duty of a responsible citizen by reporting the matter to the medical superintendent.

Answer:

a. Some medicines are kept in a cool place in the dark because they are light sensitive and temperature sensitive. They get degraded if they are kept in light. So to avoid their degradation, medicines are stored in cool places in the dark.

b. Some medicines are temperature sensitive and if they are kept in room conditions or openly then they get degraded and their function is disabled. Therefore to avoid this, some medicines are kept in refrigerator.

c. Shyam is a studious boy and he has a scientific temperament and also he is a vigilant citizen and knows what is wrong and what is right. He has knowledge of medicines and wants to help other people.
