We know that:

dx/dt = k is the differential rate equation format.

Generally, in school level "x" in the defition is defined as concentration. But this fact of chemistry helps people to solve this critical question simply by aspect of activity. In dilute solutions, activity is assumed to be molarity & in ideal gases, activity is assumed to be pressure. So, pressure = concentration at general conditions.

So, in zeroth kinetics,

ACTIVITY IS DIRECTLY PROPORTIONAL TO HALF LIFE.

So, now we get the answer by using proportionality rule.

Explanation:

QUESTION :-

For 2NH3 ----> products follows zero order kinetics.If t½ at p = 4 atm is 25 sec,t½ at p = 16 atm will be (in sec)

(1) 6.25

(2) 625

(3) 100

ANSWER :-

OPTION (3) 100 IS CORRECT

SOLUTION :-

For 0th order reaction t 1/2 [A] = concentration

PV = ART ----> P = CRT { c= n/v}

-----> C = P/ RT

----->t 1/2 P/RT { R and T are Constant}

Given that out P = 4atm t 1/2 = 25sec.

25 = 4

So,t 1/2 at 16atm = 25 × 16

______

4

= 100 sec.
