experimental chemistry - Why first water and then acid ... So much heat is released that the solution may boil very violently, splashing concentrated acid out of the container and all this because the reaction is exothermic. On the other hand, adding acid to water, the solution that forms is very dilute and the small amount of heat released is not enough to vaporize it.

acids can be diluted by adding a water, by diluting an acid we should add acid to water if we add water to acid then in this process a lot of heat is release which can caused acid to splash it can also break the glass due to heating
