Given:

A particle is undergoing uniform circular motion with speed v.

To find:

  • Expression for angular speed.

  • Unit for angular speed.

Solution:

  • Angular speed is defined as the linear speed divided by the radius of the circular trajectory in which the body is moving.

  • In other words, it is the scalar counterpart of angular velocity.

Let angular speed be \omega.

  \therefore \: \omega =  \dfrac{speed}{radius}

 \boxed{ \implies \:  \omega =  \dfrac{v}{r} }

\implies \:  \omega =  \dfrac{m/sec}{m}

\implies \:  \omega =  rad/s

Hence, Unit of angular speed is radian/sec.

Hope It Helps.
