Given

for every positive integer a and b :

a = bq + r

where q and r are whole numbers .

a is a multiple of b .

To Find :

Value or r = ?

Solution :

∴It is given that 'a' is a multiple of b , so we can write that :

b divides a i.e .  .

And hence when writing this using the Euclidean algorithm , we will write :

a = bq + r

So here r = 0 because if b divides a , then a remainder equal to 0 will be obtained .

So the value of r is 0
