The temperature of any substance remainconstant during the change of state because the heat energy supplied is used up in changing thestate of matter and also this heat is used forbreaking of several bonds or attractive forces. This heat, which does not raise the temperature of the body, is called Laten heat.

Hey!
It is due to the latent heat as the heat supplied to increase the temperature of the substance is used up to transform the state of matter of the substance hence the temperature stays constant.
