for any substance,why does the temperature remains constant during the change of state?

During the change of state, when a substabce absorbs or gives out heat, there is no change in average kinetic energy of its molecules and so the temperature of the substance does not change during the change of state.

Hey!

It is due to the latent heat as the heat supplied to increase the temperature of the substance is used up to transform the state of matter of the substance hence the temperature stays constant.
