As a boy, he believed that he was born free and that as long as he obeyed his father and followed the customs of his tribe, he was free from any kind of man of law and God.

But as he grew up, he realised his boyhood freedom was just an illusion.

He also realised that freedom was taken away not this from him but from everyone who looked like him that is every black skinned person.

This is when he started to hunger for not just is personal freedom but freedom for all his people.

2》The twin obligations that Mandela mentions are - obligations to family and obligations to his country.

He says that as he grew up he realised that he was not free and neither could take care of his family if he wanted to do something for his people.

His hunger for freedom made him what he is today.

His fight for his people isolated him from his family.
