∆ action is towards left and reaction is towards right
a)hammer force on the nail - force applied by nail on the hammer.
b)force applied by the gravity - force applied by your body.
c) the force applied by the helicopter blades on the air and in return air exert force on the blade.
e) force applied by your ✋ on the friends back - in return friends body exert force on you.
f) force exerted by the wave - return force by the rock

  • According to Newton's third law, when two bodies interact, they exert forces on each other that are equal in magnitude and opposite in direction.

Action-Reaction pair of the following interaction are as follows-

a. A hammer hits a nail

ACTION- Hammer exerting force on the nail in the downward direction.

REACTION - The Nail exerts equal and opposite force on the hammer.

b. Earth’s gravity pulls down on you

ACTION- Earth attracts you towards itself by exerting gravitational force.

REACTION- You pull up the earth towards yourself.

c. A helicopter blade pushes air downward.

ACTION - Blade exerts a force on the Air around the helicopter to push it in a downward direction.

REACTION - Air around the blades of the helicopter pushed the blades in an upward direction.

d. You step off a curb

ACTION - You exert a force on the ground to push it backward.

REACTION - Ground exerts a force of equal magnitude on you in the forwarding direction.

e. You pat your friend on the back.

ACTION - Force exerted by the hand on the back of your friend in the downward direction.

REACTION - Surface of the back exerting force of the same magnitude on the hand but in the upward direction.

F. A wave hits a rocky shore

ACTION - The wave exerts force in forward direction on the rocks.

REACTION- Rocks exert an equal amount of force on the wave in the backward direction.
