For every 1 litre of water used to make a medicine, 150 ml of sucrose and 600ml of saline solution are used. Express the amount of water, sucrose and saline solution needed as a ratio in its simplest form.

the water is in litres so we have to convert it to millilitres

1 Litre = 1000 ml

Finding HCF of 1000, 150 and 600 -

HCF of 1000, 150 and 600 is 50

dividing the 3 numbers by their HCF, we get

1000/50 = 20

150/50 = 3

600/50 = 12

Therefore required ratio of water : sucrose : saline solution is 20 : 3 : 12 for making medicine
