(i) If n(A) = 4, find n[ P(A) ]
(ii) If n[ P(A) ] = 256, find n (A).

Answer:

there is a formula for finding no of elements in a power set :

if n(A)=n elements then

n(P(A)) = 2 raised to n elements. According to this

if n[P(A)] = 256 = 2 raised to n elements [where n is no. of elements in set A ]

therefore n = 8 as 2 raised to 8 = 256. hope it helped.....
