The discovery which revolutionized modern medicines (antibiotics) did not occur during the twentieth century and hygiene principles were not formulated, let alone practiced back then. Things like malaria, yellow fever, typhoid meant certain death while even something like diarrhea meant potential life threat and certain immobility for several weeks. Creatures such as short-faced bears and sabertooth cats posed dreadful danger. Night meant terror. Being cave-dwellers meant that those people did not leave their regions for long times. In such conditions, famines meant doom and death … for everyone and everything: plants, animals and humans, alike. No rain, no plants, no tubers, no fruits, no herbivores, only hunger and suffering.Floods  Storms, cyclones, hurricanes and gales during times of migration ,Earthquakes.

Early Stone Age people hunted with sharpened sticks. ... Stone Age people cut up their food with sharpened stones and cooked it on a fire. They used animal skins to make clothes and shelters. After a good day's hunting people could feast on meat.
