Given : 4 person pqrs are to are to be seated in a row facing same direction

p and q cannot be seated adjacent

s should be seated right of q.

To Find :   how many distinct seating arrangements

Solution:

Case  1  :

All sitting Facing North

Q is in right P      , S right of Q hence  R has to be in middle of P & Q

     P      R        Q       S

P is in Right of Q   ,  S Right of Q  and R can be  either side

    Q      S        P       R

    R       Q       S       P

All sitting Facing South

P is in Right of Q ,  S right of Q and R can be  either side

    P      S       Q       R

    R       P       S       Q

Q is in right P     S right of Q hence  R has to be in middle of P & Q

    S     Q       R       P      

Hence there are total 6 possible seating arrangements
