For the reaction R → P, the concentration of a reactant changes from 0.03 M to 0.02 M in 25 minutes. Calculate the average rate of reaction using units of time both in minutes and seconds.

R---->P

∆R = 0.02 - 0.03

or,∆R=-0.01M

∆t=25 minutes = 25x60=1500seconds

Rate of reaction in minutes,

Rate = -∆R/∆t = {-(-0.01)M}/{25minutes}

0r, Rate = 4x10^(-4)ML^-1minutes^-1.

Rate of reaction in seconds,

Rate=-∆R/∆t = {-(-0.01)M}/{1500 seconds} = 6.67x10^(-6)ML^-1 second^-1.
