Given:

Particle A, ra = 2i + 3j

va = 3i - j

Particle B, rb = 6i + 7j

vb = xi - 5j

To find:

The value of x.

Solution:

Position = ( 2, 6 )

Velocity = ( 3, 1 )

Relative velocity = 3 - 1 = 2

Distance = 6 - 2 = 4

Collision = Velocity / Distance

4 / 2

Collision = 2 s

Substituting the values in the position equation,

We get,

2 + 3 * 2

The value of x = 8 if the collide.
