Exploitation and slavery were the recurring themes of those bygone years which can be definitely called the dark period for human civilization.
Though there are various reasons for this slavery and subjugation of American Indians by the Spanish, primarily they want these slaves to work in the dangerous mines and also to grow sugar for them.
Since they did not want to work hard, so they enslaved American Indians.
