For two lines to be parallel to each other , the sum of co-interior angles must be equal to 180°

Here, the co-interior angles are 3x - 12 , 5x

So,

☛ 3x - 12 + 5x = 180

☛ 8x = 192

☛ x = 24

So, Lines p and q are parallel only and only if x is equal to 24.
