the value of k is equal to 2

JayanthBhimavarapu: correct!
ahmadmudu: solve the problem
JayanthBhimavarapu: for two equations in 2 variables
JayanthBhimavarapu: a1x + b1y + c = 0
JayanthBhimavarapu: a2x +b2y + c2 = 0
JayanthBhimavarapu: if they have to be co incident
JayanthBhimavarapu: the respective ratios of co efficients of x y and constant have to be equal
JayanthBhimavarapu: i hope u can solve now

3 - y + 8=0
-y=0+3-8
y=-5

6x-ky=16
6x-5×k=16
x-5k=16/6
×-k =8/3×5
x-k=24/3

x-k=8
