It is given it is an AP therefore ,
13=[(2k+1)+(5k-3)]/2
13=(2k+1+5k-3)/2
13=(7k-2)/2
26=7k-2
7k=28
k=4

anjalirathore: For being it in AP, there must be common difference.
2(3k+3) = (5k-3)+(2k+1)
⇒6k +6 = 7k -2
⇒k =8

according to question it is 5k -1
so,
2(3k+3) = (5k-1)+(2k+1)
⇒6k +6 = 7k
⇒k =6

if these are three consecutive term of an a. p
therefore
difference between them will be equal.
therefore
13-(2k+1)=5k-3-13
13-2k-1=5k-16
-7k=-28
k=-28/-7=4
therefore value of k will be 4.
