Answer:

The answer is k = 8

Step-by-step explanation:

Given equation is x2 - kx + 4 =0

Comparing the equation with general form i.e

ax2 + bx + c = 0   we get,

a = 1, b = k, c = 4

As given, roots are real and equal ,

b2 - 4ac =0

By putting values we get,

b2 - 4ac = k2 - 4 X 1 X 4 = 0 .................   ( b2 - 4ac =0)

             = k2 - 16 =0

             = k2 = 0+16

             = k2 =16

             = k = 16/2

              k = 8
