The Prayer is being said for the poet’s mother. The suffering that was undergone was that on a rainy night she was bitten by a scorpion that was taking shelter under a sack of rice. She was in great pain. Her neighbors were superstitious and were chanting religious chats to drive away the evil, but on the other hand the poet’s father was a disbeliever and he tried to cure her with different herbs. There was also a holy man who was performing rites. Nearly after 20 hours the sting was lost and the poison became powerless and the poet’s mother recovered. She forgot all her sufferings and her pain. She thanked God, and was grateful that the scorpion had spared her children.
