F = 5N
M1=?
M2=?
a1 = 8m/s^2
a2= 24m/s^2
M1 = f/a1
M1 = 5/8= 0.62
M2 = f/a2
M2 = 5/24 = 0.20
When both masses are tied together
M = M1 + M2
M = 0.62 + 0.20 = 0.82
A = F/M
= 5/0.82
= 6.09m/s^2
So same force will produce 6.09m/s^2 acceleration.
