Erosion protection

Trees prevent soil erosion in several ways: They intercept rainfall which stops 'splash erosion' They reduce the amount of water in soil through transpiration. Their roots bind soil to sloping ground.

Hope this helps you  ♥

Answer:

Forests are rich in vegetation. Herbs, shrubs and trees in the forests hold the top most layer firmly by their roots. This does not allow natural forces like wind and water to carry away the top most fertile layer of the soil easily.

The roots of rainforest trees and vegetation help anchor the soil. When trees are cut down there is no longer anything to protect the ground, and soils are quickly washed away with rain.

Trees reduce the rate of erosion by:

1) Protecting the soil from the impact of rain.

2) Transpiring large amounts of water, which counteracts very wet soil.

3) Binding soil to sloping land with their roots.
