• Villagers wanted forests with a mixture of species to satisfy different needs - fuel , fodder , leaves.
• The forest department on the other hand wanted trees which were suitable for building ships or railways. They needed trees that could provide hard wood , and were tall and straight.
• So particular species like teak and sal were promoted and other were cut.

The perspectives of the villagers and the foresters were different as they saw forests differently for their own very cause of benefit.
The foresters wanted to clear down the population of the forests and wanted a full fledged commercialization of forests to be enforced.
But here, unlike the foresters the very native setters of the forests believed that the forests belonged to the community and should be made available to everyone who served the benefit of their own but only on one condition, that the forests were kept safe and no irrational cutting down of trees takes place.
Thank you
