Calcium oxide, calcium hydroxide and calcium carbonate all three are alkaline or basic in nature and these are used byfarmers in their fields if they find the soilto be acidic in nature having more of chloride or sulphate ions to neutralize the effect of these ions and to increase the fertility of the soil.
