Average Velocity Formula

Average Velocity as the word states is the average value of the given velocities. Average Velocity is displacement over total time. The average speed of an object is defined as the distance traveled divided by the time elapsed. Velocity is a vector quantity, and average velocity can be defined as the displacement divided by the time. The units for velocity can be implied from the definition to be meters/second or in general any distance unit over any time unit. The average speed of an object is defined as the distance traveled divided by the time elapsed.

It is helpful in determining the average value of speed if the body is varying continuously for the given time intervals.

It is given by Vav. Average Velocity Formula varies based on the given problem.
If any distances xi and xf with their corresponding time intervals ti and tf are given we use the formula

Where x= Initial Distance,
x= Final distance,
ti = Initial time,
tf= Final time.

If Initial velocity U and final Velocity V are given, we use the formula

Where,
U = Initial Velocity and
V = Final Velocity.

If there are different distances d1, d2, d3 ....... dn for different time intervals t1, t2, t3,... tn then
