range of the data = maximum value - minimum value / maximum value + minimum value
Let us learn from a example
Find the range of the following data
12 , 21 , 24 , 35 , 40 , 30 , 33
minimum value = 12
maximum value = 40
range = 40 - 12 / 12 + 40
= 28/52
= 7/13
so the range for the above data is 7/13

The range of a set of data is the difference between the highest and lowest values in the set. To find the range, first order the data from least to greatest. Then subtract the smallest value from the largest value in the set.
