Forty percent of the employees of a certain company are men and 75 % of the men earn more than Rs 25000 per year. If 45% of the company employees can earn more than Rs 25000 per year, what fraction of the women employed by the company earn less than or equal to Rs 25000 per year?

Answer:

Let there are 100 people working in the company.

No.of men = 40

No.of women = 60

Since 75% men earn more than 25000

No.of men earning above 25000 are = 75/100 × 40

=30 Men

But, 45%of company is earning more than 25000 therefore no.of people earning more than 25000 are 45 but out of them 30 are men therefore 15 are women

Total no of women = 60 

Therefore,

fraction of women earning below 25000 are = (60-15)/60

= 45/60

= 3/4
