Fossil fuels are fuels formed by natural processes, such as anaerobic decomposition of buried dead organisms, under high temperature and pressure.

Examples of fossil fuels are: coal, petroleum, natural gas, etc.

Fossil fuels are found below the earth's surface, hidden by layers of soil and rocks. They have to be mined out of the crust.

Fossil fuels such as petroleum and natural gas are found below the ocean floor as they are made up of dead marine organisms whereas coal is found below the land because it is formed from dead vegetation.

fossil fuel

* fuel develop from the fossils

* take million of year to form

*available in very limited amount

* non - renewable

example = coal & petroleum

They are found underneath the Earth's surface at varying depths

Fossil fuels formed as a result of plants or animals that died millions of years ago and were buried quickly enough to prevent fast decay.
