The Guhilais an ancient ruling family of Chittoor of Rajasthan. The Guhila dynasty remained intact and undisturbed until the end of 13th century. It is claimed to be the decedent of solar race.
The name of the founder of the dynasty was Bapa Rawal. He is known to be a great warrior and had repulsed the Arabian attack on his kingdom. Name of his son was Guhila who ruled the kingdom of Rajputana in the 8th Century. Guhila gave the ruling dynasty his own name.
The Guhilas were defeated and evicted from Chitor by 'Ala al-Din Khalji in 1303 but was restored by Rana Hammir during 1326-1364 of the Sisodiya branch of the family. The famous Rana Kumbha (1433-1468) and Rana Sanga (1508-1527) belonged to the same king dynasty.
