Answer:

… well I have seen a lot of deleted comments for this answer, so I would like to give it a try to explain the simple phenomenon.

Explanation:

As you are already aware that water has a tendency to exert pressure on its external walls of the vessel or the pipe through which it is flowing. As the water flowing through the water pipe exerts force and pressure on the walls of the pipe, so does it exert the same level of pressure on the walls of the joints.

Now if the joints are leaking then it is obvious that the same pressure is exerted by the water on the joints that are leaking. As the water finds an easy way out so it oozes out of the pipe through the leaking points.

This simple phenomenon also can be explained by the buoyancy factor. Archimedes principle also givens a simple explanation to this phenomenon as the water exerts pressure or force on the side walls of the vessel or the pipe through which it flows.

Answer:

Fountains of water are seen coming out of leaking joints or holes in supply pipes.  This happens due to water pressure. Water flows through pipes with a pressure and this pressure is usually very high. So whenever there are some small holes created on the water supply pipes the water starts leaking and oozing out with a full force and this can even break the pipes.
