  • The ratio of Juice & Water in the resultant mixture is equal to 10 : 9 .

Given :- Four glasses of sizes 2 Litres, 8 Litres, 12 Litres, and 16 Litres contain a mixture of Juice & Water in the ratio 1:1, 3:5, 7:5 and 9:7 respectively . All four glasses are poured into a single jar .

To Find :- The ratio of Juice & Water in the resultant mixture ?

Solution :-

First glass :-

→ Total quantity = 2 litres

→ Juice : Water = 1 : 1

So, let first glass has x litres juice and x litres water .

then,

→ Juice + Water = Total quantity

→ x + x = 2

→ 2x = 2

dividing both sides by 2,

→ x = 1 litre .

therefore,

→ Total juice in first glass = x = 1 litre .

→ Total water in first glass = x = 1 litre .

____

Second glass :-

→ Total quantity = 8 litres

→ Juice : Water = 3 : 5

So, let first glass has 3x litres juice and 5x litres water .

then,

→ Juice + Water = Total quantity

→ 3x + 5x = 8

→ 8x = 8

dividing both sides by 8,

→ x = 1 litre .

therefore,

→ Total juice in first glass = 3x = 3 × 1 = 3 litres .

→ Total water in first glass = 5x = 5 × 1 = 5 litres .

____

Third glass :-

→ Total quantity = 12 litres

→ Juice : Water = 7 : 5

So, let first glass has 7x litres juice and 5x litres water .

then,

→ Juice + Water = Total quantity

→ 7x + 5x = 12

→ 12x = 12

dividing both sides by 12,

→ x = 1 litre .

therefore,

→ Total juice in first glass = 7x = 7 × 1 = 7 litres .

→ Total water in first glass = 5x = 5 × 1 = 5 litres .

____

Fourth glass :-

→ Total quantity = 16 litres

→ Juice : Water = 9 : 7

So, let first glass has 9x litres juice and 7x litres water .

then,

→ Juice + Water = Total quantity

→ 9x + 7x = 16

→ 16x = 16

dividing both sides by 16,

→ x = 1 litre .

therefore,

→ Total juice in first glass = 9x = 9 × 1 = 9 litres .

→ Total water in first glass = 7x = 7 × 1 = 7 litres .

____

Now, when all four glasses are poured into a single jar :-

→ Total Juice in Jar = 1 litre + 3 litres + 7 litres + 9 litres = 20 litres

→ Total Water in Jar = 1 litre + 5 litres + 5 litres + 7 litres = 18 litres

hence,

→ Total Juice : Total Water = 20 : 18

→ Total Juice : Total Water = 2 × 10 : 2 × 9

2 will be cancel from both ratio,

→ Total Juice : Total Water = 10 : 9 (Ans.)
