Given :

Length of side of square = 1m

Magnitude of charges placed at vertices = q

To Find :

The electric field at the center of the square

Solution :

  • The electric field due to a point charge is given by E = kq/r²
  • All the vertices are equidistant from centre of square and all have equal charges
  • The magnitude of electric field due to all charges is same
  • The electric field produced by charges present at diagonals is opposite in direction which gets cancelled

The resultant magnetic field will be zero at the centre
