Step-by-step explanation:
Let A's present age = x and B's present age = y.
4 years ago:
1/3rd of A's age and nine times B's age were in the ratio 8:27.
⇒ [(x/3 - 4)]/(9y - 4] = 8/27
⇒ (x - 12)/3(9y - 4) = 8/27
⇒ 27x - 324 = 8(27y - 12)
⇒ 27x - 324 = 216y - 96
⇒ 27x - 216y = 228
⇒ 9x - 72y = 76 -------- (1)
Seven years hence 1/5th of A's age is equal to the present age of B.
(1/5 x) + 7 = y + 7
⇒ x + 35 = 5y + 35
⇒ x - 5y = 0
⇒ x = 5y
Place x = 5y in (1), we get
⇒ 9x - 72y = 76
⇒ 9(5y) - 72y = 76
⇒ 45y - 72y = 76
Cannot be Solved.. Seems like Question is incorrect!
