let the present ages of the father be x years and the son b y years
therefore according to the question
case 1: x-4=4(y-4)+2
x-4= 4y- 16 +2 = 4y-14
x-4y = -10......eq 1
case 2:X + 3 =3( Y + 3) - 4= 3y + 9 - 4
X + 3 =3y + 5
X - 3Y =2.......eq2
subtracting equation 1 and equation 2 we get
Y = 12
substituting this value of Y in equation 2 we get
X - 36 = 2
x = 36 + 2
x = 38
Thus,
the age of father is 38 years and the age of his son is 12 years
